Fortune favours the brave
It’s often said that university study "opens doors". It’s certainly been the case for me.
After completing degrees in arts, law and business I have been fortunate and privileged enough to work in blue-chip companies as well as in some of the finest law firms, with some of the finest legal minds.
Of equal importance, I have been able to hold ground and "stand-as-one" with some of the most respected Indigenous leaders in helping steer a better course for Indigenous Australians.
Yet without meaning to limit the importance of those experiences, some of my most enjoyable times have come through assisting younger students in their studies. Like seeing someone who didn’t finish year 12, go on to top their class at university. Or simply discussing a very cool business idea with a colleague.
My future is in China. I hope to learn more about corporate law in that region. If your goal is to complete your first degree at university, then that’s a wonderful commitment. Fortune favours the brave, so take a deep breath and your first step. We will be watching out for you.
