Equity-based and merit-based scholarships
Scholarships offered to help those with financial or other difficulties commencing or continuing study are known as equity-based scholarships.
When offered on the basis of the applicant's academic or other achievements they are termed merit-based scholarships. Some scholarships are awarded on the basis of both equity and merit.
