Summary

  • The University of Canberra and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Scholarship for Indigenous Students in Journalism and Media Arts and Production is a joint initiative by the University of Canberra and the ABC's Northbourne news division. The Scholarship supports an Indigenous student in the field of journalism and media arts and production by way of financial assistance and by providing the successful applicant with professional experience in their chosen field with up to 12 weeks unpaid work experience at the ABC.

Applicant criteria

The applicant must

  • be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
  • be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree with a major in either journalism or media arts and production at the University of Canberra (UC)
  • have completed 1.5 years of the journalism or media arts production degree and be expecting to graduate at the end of the following year
  • submit with their application a 300 word statement outlining any relevant experience and career aspirations
  • achieve at least a 'Pass' level of academic achievement
